Millwall's FA Cup Final Adventure

The best day in Millwall history started early on Saturday morning. A short drive to The Den and we joined some other early birds to help decorate the Junior Lions coach. We had mountains of decorations and other suprises, and lots of helpers. People arrived and soon enough the coach was full and ready to roll. We all got an inflatable football with arms and legs and the drivers were really in the cup spirit and were joining in all the fun! We played Let Em Come as we left The Den and the whole coach was singing - it was buzzing! Then we had Oh Millwall playing, and then we watched Millwall V West Ham video which was excellent. Every goal we scored was cheered and West Ham were booed!! It was funny! We reached the services in no time at all , waving and beeping all the Millwall cars we passed on the M4. We also sang at the Man Utd coaches! The services was heaving with Millwall fans going to Cardiff and it was mad!
We boarded the coach, with some of us having got our faces painted and our hair sprayed blue, and hit the road again - with more singing to Let Em Come and plenty of terrace chants! We blew up lots and lots of balloons and had a balloon fight which was wicked!
A football card competition was run and Burnley won, ( not Man Utd this time!) and prizes were passed out. Then we had our blue and white "war paint" put on us and we had arrived in Cardiff. With time to kill, we joined thousands of other Millwall supporters - a sea of blue and white everywhere - it was brilliant. As soon as the Millenium Stadium opened, we went inside to savour the atmpshere. Loads of inflatable footballs were being thrown around in the crowd and it was cool throwing them through the crowd. The team came out onto the pitch in their sits and were greeted by a massive cheer and Millwall fans singing, we were really loud. We sang Abide with me and then the national athem and kick off couldnt come quick enough, and the noise from our end was deafening. It was awesome. We started quite brightly, and Man Utd didnt look all that they are cracked up to be - Ronaldo had a few wayward shots and we all laughed at him. Their fans didnt make a sound and it was all Millwall that you could hear. Marshall made some terrific saves and the defence was on top form. With Iffil and Elliot outpacing some of the Utd players, it was really game on. The tackles were flying in - especially from Wisey and their was some excellent football skills on display. In the 44th minute , Utd went one nil up - It was a good goal and Marshall couldnt have stopped it. It didnt dampen our spirit and we roared loudly with MIIIIIILLL and no one likes us. At half time we were still singing and dancing around. The second half was much the same as the first, but tiredness started to show from the Lions, but that wasnt before we had cleared off the line and made some crucial tackles. A double substition lifted us slightly but Man utd were much fitter. Curtis Weston came on and made a new record for the youngest ever player in an Fa Cup final - beating a record previously set by a West Ham player haha!! Utd got two more goals - one was offside but it still stood. But we didnt care. The whistle went and Millwall had lost, but it didnt matter to all the lions fans who kept on singing until they left . We watched the medals being presented and the Fa Cup being handed to Roy Keane. The team did a lap of honour and we cheered and sang. Eventually we started to leave and headed back through the sea of blue and white to our coach. We got moving and saw lots of blue and white cars going past and on the coach we still singing!
As we hit the motorway drinks and crisps were handed out and then we had a raffle with hundreds of prizes! Then we watched Johnny English which is really funny and silly! Most of us dozed off because it had been a long day. We stopped at a services and it was full of Millwall! When we reached The Den , everyone was still happy. It had been a fantastic day - the coach was amazing, the game and atmosphere was unbelievable and it will never ever be forgotton.
It didn't matter that we had lost on the pitch. Millwall won just by being there.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL "

Joe Whelan and Grace Church: " Today we have all had a fantastic day and don't want it to end. Even though we did not win the cup it was worth going down to the Millenium stadium and watching our team Millwall play. On the way to Cardiff we saw lots of Millwalls fans and a little of Man Utd - and if we did see any Man Utd on the way we would sing songs at them , and some were a little bit naughty!!

Laura Rose: " I had a great time at Cardiff and the coach ride was also fun with lots of singing on the way down. Dont worry Milllwall, we will win the FA Cup next year!"
R Hobson, Joe and Michael: " I think Junior Lions provide a valuable service for those of us at the lower end of the income scale. I consider we recieved value for money alongside GREAT SUPPORTERS"
